Getting The Most From Your WHY Statement

There is no doubt that any good personal WHY statement takes time and effort to create. So having made this investment in your WHY statement you will want to get the most that you can from it.

Quite rightly you took quite a long time to write and refine your WHY statement so that it was as clear, concise and powerful as it could be. So now it is time for you to reap the benefits of your new powerful WHY statement and in this article we will show you how to do that.

Motivate yourself with your WHY Statement

Inspiration alone is usually never enough to achieve your goals. There are going to be times when you are not in the right frame of mind and just cannot be bothered to take action. When you have a strong personal WHY statement you can use it to provide you with a significant motivational boost.

We strongly recommend that you have a copy of your personal WHY statement by your bedside. Every morning after you get out of bed you should read your WHY statement out loud so that it motivates you and gives you the energy that you need for the day ahead.

It is also a good idea to keep a copy of your WHY statement with you so that you can access it at any time. If you feel the need for a motivational boost at any time of day, and wherever you are, get out your WHY statement and read it again.

There is no limit to how many times you should read your WHY statement each day and be motivated by it. That is one of the main reasons that you spent all of the time and energy writing it so use it as often as you need.

Set your Goals using your WHY Statement

You are very unlikely to achieve goals that you are not truly committed to. Maybe you were persuaded by others to set certain goals in the past or you just thought that it was the right thing to do.

With a strong WHY statement you can forget about what others say and any other influencers. You know what your purpose in life is now and you have clearly defined this in your WHY statement. This clarity is essential for you to set goals that you are inspired by and truly committed to.

You are aware of the contribution that you want to make to the world and the impact that you want to have. So use this to set goals that will move you forward with both of these. Create your goals and plans around your personal WHY statement and you will be totally driven to achieve them.

Make Decisions using your WHY Statement

You should find it easier to make decisions going forward now that you have a strong and clear WHY statement. Instead of making some decisions without considering the consequences as a lot of people do, your WHY statement will guide you to make the right decisions.

Your WHY statement has provided you with direction and purpose for your life so always have it in the back of your mind when you are making decisions. Ask yourself if making a particular decision will move you closer to your life’s purpose or move you away from it.

6 Reasons Why You Need A WHY Statement

Most people do not know what their true calling in life is.  Some people just don’t care about this and are happy to be a drifter in life and just “go with the flow”.  Others do care about it but have problems with identifying their real purpose in life.  So here will show you 6 reasons why you absolutely must create a WHY statement.

1. It will provide clarity about what your purpose in life is.

If you don’t know your true life’s purpose then you will end up doing things that you really don’t want to do.  There are so many people working jobs that they hate just to pay the bills. They dread Monday mornings and always feel apprehensive on Sunday nights.  This is no way to live your life.

When you know what your true purpose is in life you can take action to achieve this.  You will have more confidence and can get a job that will align with your purpose.  You will have more energy and be motivated every day.

2. A WHY Statement Sharpens your Focus

Without the right focus in your life it is easy to set goals that you are not truly committed to. A lot of people follow their friends and other influencers in their life and end up setting the same goals as them.  We are all different and this rarely works out well.

When you identify what you really want your life to be about this clarity helps you to work out your next moves a lot more easily.  You can use your WHY statement to drive you forward each day and achieve what you really want from your life.

3. You will make the Right Decisions

Have you ever made wrong decisions in your life?  Of course you have we have all done that. When you have a strong and compelling WHY statement it will help you to make much better decisions in life.

A lot of decisions have serious consequences and if you don’t know your true purpose then you can dismiss these consequences in exchange for short term pleasure or gain.  With a good WHY statement you will assess the long term consequences and be able to make better decisions.

4. It Provides more Accountability

People that have no purpose in life tend to shy away from accountability.  They are just happy to drift along but then complain bitterly when things go against them.  It is never their fault of course and always someone else’s.

With a powerful WHY statement you will know where you are going in life and be accountable for this.  You will think things through more and only take action where it aligns with your WHY statement.  This additional accountability will make you a better person.

5. You will be Healthier and Happier

If you only want to consider one of these reasons to have a compelling WHY statement then this is the one to choose.  There is nothing more important than your health and your happiness.  When you are happy then you tend to be healthier.  If you are unhappy then your resistance is down and you can experience all kinds of health issues.

6. Your Resilience will Increase

Everyone has to face problems in their life.  For some people these problems are too difficult to handle and they become overwhelmed and stressed out.  When you have a compelling WHY statement you can see these problems as opportunities for you to grow and attain fulfillment in your life.

Why Your Business Needs A WHY Statement

Why Your Business Needs A WHY Statement

A WHY statement for a business is known as a “Mission Statement”.  It is similar to a personal WHY statement in a number of ways.  Having a good mission statement is important but most business owners don’t bother to create one.  Or they write one for a business plan and then never look at it again.

Writing a good mission statement is essential.  If it is done in a rush and doesn’t encapsulate all of the important things about your business then it is a complete waste of time.  In this article we will explain why it is so important to create a strong mission statement and take the time and effort to do so.

It Provides Direction

A good mission statement will always clearly state the direction of a company.  It will include the main goal of the business and this is important for customers, employees, suppliers and stakeholders to know.

As your business launches new products and services your customers and employees will understand why you have done that if you have a strong mission statement.  They will see how they align with the direction that the company is heading in and will be more committed to them.

It will provide Employee Unification

In any company that has a number of different departments there is often a disconnect between them.  These days many businesses outsource work to skilled freelancers and external companies and this makes the problem worse.

For example, if the company is planning to launch a new product then it is very likely that most of the departments and a number of outsourcers and external companies will be involved.  If no strong mission statement exists then there is a much higher chance of the overall goal of the project being lost on different people.

When you have a strong and explicit mission statement and you share this with all parties it makes it a lot easier for everybody working on the product launch project to see how they fit in and how important their role is.

A Mission Statement helps to maintain Focus

When a company grows and expands their reach it is often the case that both the bosses and the workers will lose their focus.  If your business has a strong mission statement then this can be avoided.

Loss of focus can really harm the reputation of a business.  Its brand can suffer and so can its overall image.  With a strong and explicit mission statement in place it will provide guidance to all during periods of growth.  The mission statement will remind everyone of the main goal and help to keep its reputation intact.

Creating Accountability with a Mission Statement

Any business will exist to fulfill a specific purpose or need and this needs to be stated clearly in your Mission Statement.  A businesses needs to be accountable so that it can continue to improve and serve its customers better.  If the overall purpose of the business is unclear then it is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to make these improvements.

You need to make it clear in your Mission Statement what your business wants to accomplish.  This will help to hold both the business owners and employees accountable and ensure that everyone is striving to achieve the same goal.

Using LinkedIn For Social Networking

Gaining new clients on Linkedin

LinkedIn is a specialty social networking site.   It’s much more specialised than the others due to the audience it attracts.  LinkedIn is specifically for professionals, rather than a portal for socialising.    Business owners looking to attract prospects and connect with industry professionals can also utilise LinkedIn in a productive and prosperous way.  If you’re looking for a job then it’s a great opportunity for searching for one that suits your skills and expertise and for being able to connect directly with people who are recruiting for professionals.

What Is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with 313 million members in over 200 countries. It’s a social networking site that offers professionals a number of benefits and features.  It began in concept in the living room of the owner and was launched in 2003.  Seventeen years later it is a thriving social networking site that can be used in a number of business building ways.  It is also a means of connecting with many people that you would not normally be able to communicate in the face-to-face world.  If you have connections in common, it tends to build a sense of trust and credibility with other businesspeople.

The Many Features and Benefits of LinkedIn

Company Pages – The first element of LinkedIn is that it allows business owners to create Company Pages.  Unlike profile pages on other social networking sites, Company Pages include analytics as well as an ability to share meaningful content and promote your business.

LinkedIn groups – This feature may be one of the most beneficial because it allows you to join groups that are specific to your audience and your industry.  Within a group you can connect with other professionals and prospects to build an audience.  Groups support conversations, article posting, polling, and display group icons on your Company Page to further enhance your connections and to build credibility to your audience.

Advertising – Like many social networking sites, LinkedIn offers advertising options for members. You can reach a targeted audience with ads that you can test and track for best results.

Marketing solutions – LinkedIn offers a professional membership that goes above and beyond the standard membership.   You can then utilize features like their Marketing Solutions program that also lets you create specific messages for your audience through targeted content marketing.

Integration – Finally, LinkedIn is a site that understands you want to make the most of your social networking efforts.  You can integrate many Social Media sites with your LinkedIn page.  Integration saves time and maximizes your results and productivity.

Creating Content for LinkedIn

It’s important to remember that while you can integrate your social marketing efforts, LinkedIn has a unique audience.   It often makes sense to create unique content for LinkedIn followers.  They tend to be professionals and their needs may be different than your general audience.

People tend to trust the information they find on LinkedIn more than other Social Media sites.  This simple fact can help you build tremendous authority and credibility in your niche.  If you’re not using LinkedIn to grow your business or you’ve let your profile lag, consider giving this top rated Social Media site the attention it deserves.

Embracing Life and Walking In the Woods

Embracing Life and Walking In The Woods

This has been one of the strangest and most unusual last couple of weeks for the majority of the global community.  With the Coronavirus Pandemic affecting most of our lives and with us being on ‘lock down’ we are confined to our homes and having to learn to live in a totally new way than we are normally used to.

For many people these times are worrying and causing us anxiety and stress as well as the feelings of isolation when we are not able to be with our friends and family, let alone our colleagues.

However, the weather has been an amazing in March and the beginning of April here in the UK.   It has been like summer, with glorious blue skies and sunshine.  The evenings have just started to be lighter even though it is still a little chilly.  Some of us have already started to bring out our summer clothes.  The trees are just beginning to come into bud and the cherry and apple blossom, magnolias and spring flowers have been stunning this spring.

For many people this is a time of reflection and almost a new start.

Are you Committed to Excellence?

Commitment to Excellence

Are You Committed to Excellence?

Even if you have heard of the term ‘committed to excellence’, do you fully understand what it means? The following quote is from Aristotle and defines what excellence is.

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

Immediately you can see that excellence is a habit, and any habit can be formed. The best way to create a new habit is by setting yourself new goals and creating a plan of attack. Let’s see how you can do this.

First you want to define your reasons, or why, for wanting to commit to excellence. Does this pertain to your business, your family life or for some other reason? If it helps write down your reasons and your why for wanting to achieve this.

If your goal is to be committed to excellence for your business there are some simple actionable steps that you can put into place. If your business consists of clients, then get into the habit of demanding more from yourself than they do of you.

You can easily please your clients by doing any of the following:

  • Giving more valu
  • Over delivering
  • Finishing the work ahead of schedule
  • Adding in a bonus

Another way to improve your business through excellence is by portraying a professional image. Is your website, logo, brochure information, business cards etc all up to date and modern looking? If not this is one simple area to improve upon.

Customer service is another area where you can offer excellence. Make sure you have a great customer service center, whether online or offline. It is very easy to set up online help desks today. You can even create one using Google+ Hangouts.

By delivering quality customer service to your clients and your customers you can easily provide excellence. Always respond to tickets in a timely fashion and never get angry at the customer, regardless of the situation.

If you want to excel in your life then you can start by attempting to put forth the best effort you can. If you do this consistently you will have that air of excellence surrounding you. This will rub off on other people and they will begin to view you in a different light.
